New homes at Park
View in Lyme Regis
Park View - so named for its location
adjacent to playing fields and only a short distance from the sea
front, will provide 10 two-bedroomed flats available for rent
through Raglan. It is the first affordable housing to be built in
the town for 10 years.
Mrs Reed, a local resident, christened the development
when she won a naming competition run in conjunction with a local
newspaper.
Mrs Reed was invited to open the scheme alongside the
Mayor of Lyme Regis, Councillor Ken Whetlor. Commenting on the
scheme, Cllr Whetlor said: "This is wonderful for the Lyme Regis
community - housing schemes like this are few and far between. It's
in a great situation looking out over the playing fields. I hope it
will be a successful venture in the future."
Councilllor Robert Gould, Leader of West Dorset District
Council, said: "We welcome this new development. There is a very
acute need for affordable housing in Lyme Regis, and a scheme like
this makes excellent use of redundant land to provide much-needed
accommodation for local residents."
Developed in partnership between Raglan, West Dorset
District Council, Brookvale Homes, Lyme Regis Town Council and Lyme
Regis Development Trust, the new scheme was made possible thanks to
funding from the Housing Corporation and the local
authority.
