The Association considers requests for
disability grants up to £500.
For alterations work costing more than £500, residents are advised
to contact their local authority to apply for a disabled facility
grant. Raglan will provide support, guidance and practical
assistance with this process as required.
However, there may be occasions when it is appropriate for Raglan
to fund work costing more than £500. This will be considered in the
following circumstances:
- An occupational therapist or other suitably qualified health
care practitioner has recommended the adaptation.
- It is reasonable and practical to carry out the works
- The non-availability of disabled facilities grant funding from
the relevant local authority, or prospect of an undue delay in
processing an application for funding, is likely to cause a
resident or a permanent member of his/her household undue
hardship
- There is no alternative funding available
- A transfer to more suitable accommodation is not a viable
option
- The resident agrees to contribute to the cost of the works to
the same amount that the local authority would have required under
any test of resources that it would apply to disabled facilities
grant applicants
- The Association's Head of Housing has agreed to the proposed
work
