Greenacre is an extra care sheltered
project for elderly people.
It is located in beautiful grounds at Barrowby, a village 2 miles
from Grantham town centre just off the A52 and A1. Public transport
and local shops are less than half a mile away. The project is for
elderly people who want to retain their independence but have the
opportunity to call for assistance if they need to.
The project's aims are to:
- encourage residents to retain their independence as far as
possible
- offer a homely environment which is safe and secure
- encourage residents to become actively involved in the running
of the project
- give residents the choice to socialise or to stay private
- provide a relaxed atmosphere where residents interest and needs
are respected
- assist access (if desired) to social activities which offer
both mental and physical stimulation
- ensure that each resident is treated equally as an
individual
Referral Criteria for Greenacre:
- Over 60 years of age
- Demonstrate a need of the service offered
- Be able to retain or arrange responsibility for their personal
finances
- Be able to mobilize independently with or without mobility
aids
- Be willing to share access to bathroom/shower room facilities
(all rooms have ensuite toilet with vanity wash hand basin
facility)
- Be able to maintain personal care, or accept provision of care
to meet the assessed needs.

significant mental health problems for which medical support is not
accepted
- Not present a risk to other residents or staff through
aggressive or violent behaviour
Support and care
Greenacre is covered 24
hours every day by a Manager and staff team. They are backed up by
an emergency call system which can respond with a mobile support
worker if required.
The project staff look after the building and its security and act
as good neighbours to residents. Staff are not expected to carry
out personal, domiciliary or nursing care. They also do not do
shopping or laundry for residents and are not allowed to administer
medication.
Meals
Lunch and evening meal are provided
every day and are served to the table in the communal dining
room.
Accommodation and Rent
All the 24 bed-sit
flats are let unfurnished, residents can therefore bring their own
furniture with them and may decorate the bed-sit flat to their
personal taste.
The weekly charge for living at Greenacre include: rent, council
tax, heating, lighting, service charges (meals etc). The rent is
eligible for housing benefit and a supporting people grant. The
only other additional charge would be for a telephone should a
resident wish to be connected.
It is strongly recommended that a visit is made to
Greenacre prior to completing an application form.
